My Role:

For this project I became proficient in the Inform 7 “language” which is a mix of English words and syntax readable by the Inform program to develop a chained story hierarchy.

This was a two-person project where I focused mainly on the narrative writing and implementation of our developed story hierarchy. I iterated over the project for flow and consistency, as well as advocating for more player choice and consequences.

Summary:

The Glasses is a narrative-driven, text adventure game developed within the Inform 7 authoring environment. It features a central narrative with varying branching paths driven by player choice and consequence.

The narrative follows a day in the life of a school student who wakes one day to discover that his reading glasses allow him to see into another world within his own. This other world reflects the truth of his psyche, allowing him to see things for how he really perceives them – this leads to confrontation with his deepest fears, regrets, and shortcomings. It’s up to the player to decide how this student’s story unfolds and whether or not they conclude the day having faced their fears, or becoming further drawn into despair.

The story is rather short and self-contained and could take anywhere from five to twenty minutes.
